Ai AF-I Nikkor ED 300mm F2.8D(IF)は1992年９月発売。手振れ補正機能はついていない。フォーカスロックのボタンがレンズの前方についていて、便利である、中古で買ったのはよいが、使う頻度が少ない。一度、レンズ前面を自分でクリーニングしたが運よくきれいになった。これだけ面積が広いとクリーニングが難しい。やや古いモデルだが、像の歪みはほとんどなく、フレアも少ない。レンズを買った当時は1200万 画素のカメラにつけていたがオーバースペックで、3600万画素のカメラの購入でレンズの性能が引き出せるようになった。手持ち撮影が多いのでレンズ用ストラップNikon LN-1をつけている。
